Coming to you from the beautiful
MISSISSIPPI
GULF COAST
Genealogy is my hobby. I started about
1974 but have not been very active over the years. Now that a lot of
research can be done on the Net, my interest has expanded. This
genealogical database contains my direct line plus many different
branches. I think it is important to put as much info in the database as
I can so that others might find links to their ancestors. If anyone finds
an error, which I am sure are present, please let me know so that it may be
corrected.
Also, if your line does
tie in I would be interested in adding your info to this database. As
with most family histories, I have included living individuals with details
withheld. If anyone finds their name in the database and for privacy
reasons wishes to be removed, please let me know...
If I can help someone else with his or her search
or you have information that may be a help to me, please E-mail me at F. L. (Butch) Stiver, Jr.

STÖVER -
STOEVER - STAVER - STIVER Our earliest known ancestor was Dietrich STÖVER and wife Magdalena EBERWEIN of Frankenberg, Germany. Their son, John Kasper STÖVER, (I), left Germany with his son, Johann Casper STÖVER, (II), and daughter, Anna Elisabetha Catherina STÖVER in the spring of 1728. They arrived in Philadelphia on September 11, 1728 aboard the ship James Goodwill. The spelling of the family name changed to STOEVER shortly after arriving in America. Both father and son were well known Lutheran Ministers in the Pennsylvania and Virginia areas. The younger STOEVER was the first German Lutheran Minister ordained in the US.
My family's name stayed with STOEVER through the next generation, John
Casper STOEVER, (III), but was changed to STAVER with John
Adam STOEVER\STAVER. His son Johann Frederich (Stoever/Staver)
STIVER changed the name to STIVER (in
the early 1800's) which has continued down to my
generation. Some of the other family branches kept STOVER, STAVER
or STOEVER as the family name. |
